SOURP MAGAR · MAGARAVANK
Where time
stands still.
Hidden in the forests of the Beşparmak Mountains, Sourp Magar sits 530 metres above sea level.
Founded in the 11th century by Coptic Christians from Egypt, the monastery became a sacred place for the Armenian community in the 15th century. For centuries, it served as a place of worship and refuge, sheltering monks and pilgrims.

Its blue doors and windows gave it another name: the Blue Monastery.
Today, nature is slowly reclaiming its stone walls. Mist sometimes hides the ruins completely, while sunlight reveals their weathered beauty. Where prayers once echoed, the wind now moves through empty spaces.
Step inside,
and time seems to stand still.
